Calculating Mount Size:

1. Measure Your Stamp

Use a millimeter ruler or stamp gauge to measure the height and width of your stamp’s design (not including perforations if you prefer a snugger fit).

• Height: Measure from top to bottom.

• Width: Measure from side to side.

Write both numbers down in millimeters (mm) — Scott mount sizes are listed in mm.

2. Add a Small Allowance  

Scott recommends adding 2–3 mm to the height of your stamp.

This ensures an easy fit and allows for slight variations between stamps.

Example:

If your stamp measures 40 mm high, choose a mount 42 – 43 mm in height.

Width can usually match the stamp exactly (or you can trim the mount strip to fit).

3. Match the Mount Height to a Scott Size

Scott Stamp Mounts are identified by their height in millimeters — for example: 

For a 40 mm-tall stamp, choose a Scott Mount 42 mm or 43 mm (whichever is on hand and available).
