Description:

Editorial improvements are foud throughout the entire volume. In Portugal, the description of the paper types on which the definitive stamps bearing the portrait of King Manuel II were printed in 1910 has been clarified. This makes it easier to differentiate between the sub-numbers.  The First Day Covers (FDCs) of the European stamps from Portugal and the sub-territories of the Azores and Madeira have been revised. It is now clearly visible which of the official FDCs contain stamps from only one collecting area and which are trio FDCs featuring stamps from all three territories.  Particularly high-priced items were examined closely. Valuations primarily were adjusted  for the Portuguese issues from the 1920s to the 1950s to reflect current market trends.  In Spain, the description of the so-called "Pruebas de artistas" (artist proofs) has been added to simplify the distinction between valid postage issues and "artist's proofs." Collectors can now more efficiently identify which items are invalid for postage and which are genuinely valid postage blocks.
